Job Description:

Member of the plant management team. Accountable for the supervision and operating results of the production shift to include manpower scheduling, efficiency, quality, safety, housekeeping, health and environmental requirements.

Experience and Skills:

Qualifications:

  1. An undergraduate degree in an engineering, technical, or related field of study preferred or combination of education and related experience.
  2. A minimum of three to five years of progressive supervisory experience in a unionized manufacturing facility.
  3. Excellent communications (oral & written) and interpersonal skills.
  4. Strong leadership, decision-making, and problem solving skills.
  5. Ability to interact with customers to solve problems and promote new business opportunities.
  6. Good judgment and the demonstrated ability to interact with hourly employees, union representatives, co-workers and managers at all levels of the organization, along with outside vendors, lawyers, and consultants.
  7. Strong reasoning skills and ability to analyze problems, collect and interpret data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  8. Strong computer skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Email.
  9. Knowledge of 5s and Lean Manufacturing is a plus.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Direct and coordinate activities of hourly workers engaged in operating a variety of machines used to produce plastic compounds and blends.

2. Accountable for meeting customer and corporate requirements through the safe and efficient operation of the plant.

3. Responsible for department/shift quality, performance and safety including establishing and maintaining excellent housekeeping standards.

4. Manage line staffing for each shift including scheduling of vacations, personal days, etc. for employees.

5. Investigate accidents and administer safety policies and procedures.

6. Monitor compliance and execution to established standards, policies, and procedures. Provide corrective coaching/counseling if/when necessary.
